1. Crockett’s Breakfast Camp
Before you hit the town, start your day off at Crockett's Breakfast Camp in Gatlinburg. It is located right on the Parkway. The name honors David C. “Crockett” Maples. He was well-known in his community and wore many hats, including frontiersman, soldier, and beloved family man. There is a statue of David C. Maples right outside the restaurant. Take a look before you go in. As for food, eat your favorite Southern comfort dishes in a rustic but cozy cabin atmosphere. Some great dishes on their menu include griddle cakes and cinnamon rolls. You can also get an omelet or breakfast burrito if you want a savory meal. Whatever you get, wash it down with a cold or hot drink like orange juice or coffee.
2. Crystelle Creek
For dinner later in the day, go to Crystelle Creek. It is a steakhouse in Gatlinburg that is another one of the unique restaurants in the area. You should definitely try one of their steaks. The meat is aged to perfection and then hand-cut. Get broccoli or a baked potato on the side. Their menu has an excellent selection of pasta and salads as well. Adult guests can get a cocktail with their meal. Their bar menu has classic drinks, including a regular margarita. If you’re feeling adventurous, they also have unique creations made with local Ole Smoky Moonshine. Try a Pickle Bloody Mary or a Blackberry Lemonade!
3. Local Goat
Local Goat is another one of the unique restaurants in Pigeon Forge. It is a great place to get lunch or dinner. Get the teriyaki kabob or lamb burger for lunch. If you come later in the day, order the bison meatloaf. There is no wrong choice, as everything is made from fresh local ingredients. Enjoy the scenery while you eat. The walls of the dining room are adorned with paintings from local artists while you can see views of Mount LeConte outside. It is the third-highest peak of the Smokies!
4. Pottery House Café
Are you searching for a restaurant that's unlike any chain restaurants you'll find in town? You need to check out Pottery House Café. Located near the popular Old Mill Restaurant, this is the spot the locals often choose to dine instead. It's an actual potter's home that was built in 1949 and is known for its homemade breads, desserts, and Southern specialties. A bonus is that everything is served on pottery that's handcrafted right next door! We recommend visiting during brunch or lunch to try their signature quiche plates, or make dinner plans to try the popular Old Forge's Pecan Fried Chicken or Carolina BBQ Pork Plate. One thing's for sure: You have to save room for dessert! All of the desserts are homemade and include everything from coconut cream pie to chocolate cake.
