If you’re planning your first-ever visit or haven’t been to the park in the spring yet, read on to find out more! Here is a list of great things to do in Dollywood this spring:
1. Experience the Flower and Food Festival
Dollywood’s Flower and Food Festival is a fun time in the park. There are more than 500,000 vibrant flowers blooming in all kinds of colors. Visitors also see stunning sculptures made out of living plants. Some of them resemble animals, such as a bear and a peacock. Another great activity is taking a relaxing stroll down the Umbrella Sky. As for food, some of the restaurants in Dollywood offer special dishes for the Flower and Food Festival in addition to their regular menu, providing visitors with plenty of delicious options.
2. Go on the Fun Rides
Another one of the great things to do in Dollywood is going on the rides. Some of the rides have water, which is a fun way to beat the heat. One of our favorites is Daredevil Falls. Riders wander into an abandoned logging camp, where they encounter various creatures and abandoned machinery. The grand finale comes at the very end when the car speeds down a waterfall that has a 60-foot drop at speeds of 60 miles per hour. Another one of the water rides is the Smoky Mountain River Rampage, an exciting whitewater rafting experience. Additionally, you should also check out Dollywood’s other popular roller coasters, some of which include the Tennessee Tornado and Wild Eagle. If you need to relax after all the excitement or want a more laid-back ride, come aboard the Dollywood Express. It is an old-fashioned train ride where visitors can admire the stunning scenery of the Smokies.
3. Watch an Entertaining Show
Along with the rides, another thing that Dollywood is known for is its entertaining shows. For example, you can go and see The Tones in the Village Depot. They are an acapella group that sings beloved pop melodies with their own intricate harmonies. If you’re a Dolly Parton fan, you’ll love From the Heart. The audience goes on a musical journey where they hear Parton’s earliest to most recent hit songs. Fans should also check out Heartsong at the Heartsong Theater. This is a unique multi-sensory film experience where you’ll see what Dolly’s childhood in the Smokies was like. Lastly, do you love animals? If so, you’ll enjoy the Wings of America Birds of Prey show. Listen closely as experts tell you interesting facts about the high-flying stars of the show. You may even get to see one up close as they perch on your arm.
